What is a Pastoral Counselor?

Priests, Ministers, Rabbis and their associates and Deacons counsel every day. As do health workers, hospice workers, nurses and even attorneys...

Pastoral Counseling vs. Traditional Therapy...

The "traditional" psych establishment (people with an alphabet after their names) are in an occupation that ostensibly is there to help people. But, when they are confronted with the hundreds of thousands of other professionals that counsel every day: Ministers, Priests, Rabbis, deacons, nurses, sisters, brothers, hospice workers, addiction center volunteers, and hundreds of others, they switch from the loving, non directive milk of human kindness, to pit bulls insisting that anyone near their turf follow their rules!

Because of this, thousands of very competent counselors on the pastoral side work "underground," in fear of the powerful psych establishment asserting it's territorial imperatives. Our purpose is to help every Pastoral Counselor come out into the light, with no fear of them. Click HERE to lean more about your legal rights as a Pastoral Counselor.

Many in the traditional establishment are extremely impressed with themselves, and the little line of letters after their names. Technically, they are letting affect infusion color the heuristics and processing choices in their judgments about others. They want to blow out the candle of others, so their own "seems" to burn that much more brightly.

When they find out that we are simply helping thousands of people who are ALREADY COUNSELING grow in their profession, a profession very separate, and in fact much more effective than traditional therapy, as many studies show, they simply turn up the volume of that infusion, increasing their base instincts of turf protection.

A few of these walking towers of righteous indignation will even say, ironically, that their turf aggression is to "protect clients," when the truth is, they often are anti-religion leftist university spawned liberals, and their real beef is making God the center of our counseling work! You can spot their prejudice by the very fact of their abandonment of the scientific method they deify-- they will give a completely one-sided, negative, fear mongering version of PC, instead of the pro-con thinking that is the hallmark of enlightenment in any field.

A challenge: can any of the alphabet soup crowd come up with a SINGLE praise for PC? How about Sergei, a renowned Russian Psychoanalyst who has a PhD and has written 7 books, but can only practice PC here because the establishment won't recognize his credentials? What about numerous outcomes studies that show better effectiveness with PC in many categories of addiction and family counseling? What about the poor ethnic who grew up in the inner city with a natural counseling talent but none of the opportunities of you gringos with your inherited wealth and Harvard degrees? Anything more than one sided criticism out there? A single note of praise, caution, pro-con thinking? Many of the attackers of PC are of Jewish descent-- is this a hate blacks thing, and have you forgotten so soon what one sided rhetoric means? SHAME on you!

Albert Ellis, one of the establishment's own "luminaries," and a vehement Atheist, acknowledged at the end of his life that Pastoral Counseling was not only valid, but in many cases far more effective (citing AA!) than traditional therapy. Previous to that, he had declared religion a pathology. Closer to meeting his Maker, he changed his tune and tone.

So take heart! If your State, or one of the establishment organizations, are trying to take away either your First Amendment right to free speech, or, since 1802, from Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists, your First Amendment right to practice Pastoral Counseling without interference from the government, there are 200 years of precedence that support your efforts, and we are here to support you!

"I beg Thee to forgive me, O my God, for every mention but the mention of Thee, and for every praise but the praise of Thee, and for every delight but delight in Thy nearness, and for every pleasure but the pleasure of communion with Thee, and for every joy but the joy of Thy Love and of Thy good pleasure, and for all things pertaining unto me that bear no relationship to Thee, O Thou who art the Lord of lords, He Who provideth the means, and unlocketh the doors." (From the Persian Bayan)

"Rely upon God, trust in Him, praise Him, and call Him continually to mind. He verily turneth trouble into ease, and sorrow into solace, and toil into utter peace. He verily hath dominion over all things..." (SWAB, p. 178)
