"I could be your poster girl for what you are saying about new State efforts to regulate our practices. I have a Master's in Social Work, and have had my own Pastoral Counseling practice for nearly 10 years. Without warning, my State started listening to the local chapters of ACC, APA and others who were lobbying for strict new regulations. These efforts would have ended my career, because I do not have the "under a Psych's thumb" apprenticeship or practice association they were pushing for. I know that you emphasize the great price (your nearest competitors are $20,000 and take three years, and many aren't even accredited), and speed of licensure, but that discounts the AWESOME value of the courses themselves. I realize that many students with deep life experience, including Pastors etc. need the certification. But in my case, starting from scratch, the material really did add ALL the value. Every mainstream Counselor should be FORCED to take these courses. "I tried every home business known to man, from Carleton Sheets real estate to tupperware, to the latest Internet millionaire schemes. "When I retired I had no pension and no savings, because I had worked at too many companies, and some time for myself as a contractor, and never got into a retirement program. Dumb, I know.
